'(I've Had) The Prime of My Life!'

Has been so refreshing to swap to paint again - with repairs taking time to do and more repairs being constantly discovered at each turn. Not unusual though for any restoration of any kind. It's once you start to peel back the layers of the job, you uncover more than you would have liked or expected. Keeping the faith, keeping on!

The roof has had its fair share of repairs so far, with the board ends renewed to the front & rear and the chimney holes filled in. Rotten sections in the porch roof rib ends replaced. Having now gone over the whole surface, removing any sharp objects sticking up, etc., I applied some gap filler between the T & G roof boards to smooth over the gaps, joins and edges. Again time consuming, but definitely worth the effort. Swapping to paint kettle & brush, it took about 2hrs to prime using around 3 ltrs of good quality, oil based, Aluminium wood primer.

The Good, the Bad & the Rotten

Pleased with the end result and another step closer to putting on the canvas. Unfortunately we've just gone into a local lockdown - so the small team of 6, I was hoping to bring together to help with the process, has been put on hold for the time being.

Turning my attention to the side weatherboards and the under gutter area I have come across another section of rot which will need chasing back and a replacement piece of wood. Next week begins with a multi tool and a prayer. Just when you're lured into thinking it's plain sailing, think again. Until all the painting is in full swing, I remain on tenterhooks with anticipation of the next unwanted obstacle.
