A somewhat false start as illness over the New Year had prevented me from doing any work until the last week of this month. Even then progress was sporadic and finally halted in March due to Covid-19. I would not begin again until May, working alone due to the National lockdown, unable to bring in friends to help. It would take a long time to strip, sand and paint, however I had friends & family who would pop in for the day to do some sanding after the lockdown ended.

BODY CARVINGS
Repairing & Re-carving the Body Carvings
There were a plethora of carvings covering the outside of the body from the numerous smaller inter-rib ones to the larger corner type, more decorative ones as seen below. All were stripped, many repaired in some way or another and in extreme cases I had to get the chisels out and carve new from scratch.

PORCH BRACKETS (FRONT & REAR)
Repairing the Porch Brackets
The 2 front porch brackets had been carved in two parts by Sidney Finch in 1967 as the original ones had been lost many years afore that. Luckily I had the 'broken off' halves sent on to me from Sandy Balls and was able to make them whole again. The rear porch brackets are original, however they were missing some centre roses, these would need to be newly carved.
