Roof repairs - Before the canvas can go on, the roof is in need of a few repairs. The front and rear roof boards on the ends are rotten and need replacing back to the nearest roof rib, 2 old chimney pipe holes in the roof near the front OS need to be blocked up and then more prep work, until finally the primer, gloss and at last the canvas - then lots more layers of paint!

With TRJoinery brought in to replace the rotten ended roof boards on the roof. Myself and my dad tackled the ex - chimney pipe holes. Covering one over with original roof boards (which were still good to use) taken from the rear ones that had been replaced and covering the other with new wood where the chimney pipe should be sited if required in the future.
Good Roof Hunting
Still on the quest for a finished roof, the voyage became bumpy once more when team Davies removed the front weatherboard to discover a few more gremlins! An OS corner which resembled a wooden cauliflower, with florets branching out in all directions. A set back for my deadline, however, using my trusty multi tool I began to remove the rot back to good wood and we shaped, glued and clamped the replacement repairs in place. Also we need to fix a section of the front roof rib which will hold the newly made front weatherboard (when made). We have a piece cut ready to repair, so Monday we should be all good on the front area and looking over the rear!.
Finally we need to give the roof a quick once over for any sharp objects sticking up (to hammer down), show it the belt sander to get a keying surface ready for the primer and fill/fix any small nooks and crannies found. Then, at last, we can gloss and get the canvas on!
